Stan Lee was first elected in 2000 to the
Kentucky State House of Representatives as a Republican representing
Lexington's 45 House District. In 2007, his colleagues elected him
to leadership as the Republican Whip in the State House.
Representative Lee is a leader on key
conservative issues. He has been a strong advocate of fiscal
responsibility and lower taxes. In the State House, Stan has
consistently opposed tax increases and excessive government
spending. Stan was the prime sponsor of the Fetal Homicide Bill,
was rated the top fiscal conservative in the General Assembly by the
Club for Growth, and has been a key sponsor of bills to protect our
children from sexual predators and make Kentucky a more business
friendly state. Stan also sponsored HCR 10, the State Sovereignty
Resolution, which was a restatement of Tenth Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution, to demonstrate that Kentuckians cherish their freedom
and are sick & tired of the federal government trying to run their
lives.
As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, Stan has been an
advocate of tougher penalties for criminals and has worked to
strengthen the drug laws of Kentucky. Stan worked to shut down meth
labs that plagued many of our Commonwealth's communities, and take
drugs of the shelves of pharmacies that endanger our children.
Since his election in 2000, Stan has consistently been endorsed by
Kentucky Right to Life, various law enforcement groups around
Kentucky, and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He has been a
friend to small business and has worked with both the National
Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and the Kentucky Chamber
of Commerce to remove the burdensome regulations that slow business
growth in our Commonwealth.
Born in 1961 in Marion County Kentucky, Stan attended Marion County
Public Schools and received his undergraduate degree from the
University of Kentucky and went on to graduate from the UK College
of Law in 1988. In 1985 Stan married Tami Hurst of Lexington and in
March of 2006, after 20 years of marriage, Stan & Tami became the
proud parents of their first child, Addie Elizabeth.
In addition to being a State Representative, Stan has successfully
practiced law for over 22 years and currently serves on the
Executive Committee of his law firm. He and his wife are members
of Hill-n-Dale Christian Church and he is an active member of the
Fayette County Republican Party.
